Update: My haircut is scheduled for tomorrow, the votes are in, and once I added some "yay" votes and subracted some "nay" votes, here are the grand totals:
- Yes, chop it off: 27 votes
- No, keep the hair you have: 8 votes
So what's a girl to do? Tune in tomorrow, same time, same station to find out just how brave I get when actually faced with those scissors;)
If only this lovely pixie-wearer could be there to hold my hand.
Lately I've been on the hunt for over-the-top, girly-girl dresses. I live in light, flowy dresses during the warmer months, and even though it's only January, I'm already starting my spring/summer shopping:)
And if you thought that by reading this post you were done having to hear me talk endlessly about the pixie cut, you thought wrong! I tallied the votes from yesterday, and I got 10 for "yes, get a pixie" and 11 for "no, don't do it!" Now I'm determined to change all 11 of your minds! And don't think I won't keep track of who changes their mind and who doesn't ;)
First of all, look how long that ponytail is! If I get a pixie, ALL of it can go to Locks of Love. You don't want to be responsible for depriving them of all that hair, do you?
Secondly, I pinned up my hair to look like a pixie and played dress-up last night, and look how cute it looks all gussied up, complete with a headband! Don't I look like I'd be a barrel of fun to hang out with, with my mischievous, impish little haircut?
And third, I'd like to think I have a good head and face for a pixie cut, since I have a sort of ovaly, square-shaped face and a short neck.
Did I change anyone's mind? Anyone? Bueller? Buuuueller?
MG your hair is GORGEOUS! i'm sitting here thinking man i wish my hair was that long and had that much body! But i think a pixie would look cute too, if the hubby likes the idea i say go for it! He's really the only one who you're trying to impress :)
ReplyDeleteI think you could totally do a pixie! But how long would you be willing to do it? If you're happy with styling it all the time, then I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteAlso you should look into seeing if you can donate your hair to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. They actually give out the wigs for free.
I think it would look fine, but I'm still in the don't do it boat. :)
ReplyDeleteI say DO IT! I love your long hair, but I do think you look quite adorable with the pixie...you have the face and bod to pull it off! GO for it...its only hair...it'll grow back:)
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY!!! My best friend has Brain Cancer so I know the importance of "hair".... Good thing is you look GREAT with that short little dooooooo!!! DOooooooooo it!!! Live!!! I don't think it is really up to us because you are trying to convince the 11 to change their minds... OLOLOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteGo for the pixie. : )
ReplyDeleteNooooooo!
ReplyDeleteOh I do like the pixie but it's a long time if you don't like it. Then you have that strange short not long stage that drives you nuts. I'd stick with the pretty hair you have.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed you were able to get all that hair up to look like a pixie! Whoa! I already said "yes" before...I think it'll look cute.
ReplyDeleteYou changed my mind, I was a non voiced "no" before. But you look pretty darn cute in that short mock do that you took pics of.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I have hair longer than you and it is my trademark. I am a chicken and I would never cut it, (I cut it once when I was 14 to my ears) also I don't have the face for it. So if it is something you want to try go for it!
But you know how long it will take if you change your mind.
Those pixie pics are TRES CUTE!!!
ReplyDeleteHave you taken a spin around www.shabbyapple.com??
I definitely think a pixie cut would suit your face, but I would also luurrrrve to have your hair now. I cut my waist-length hair off after having my son and I've been cursing my scissors ever since. So I guess that makes me a fence-straddler.
ReplyDeleteI think you will look fabulous in a pixie cut! Your face is just the right shape for it. Besides, it's hair - it grows! If you get sick of it, you're not stuck forever. Chop it and rock it!! :)
ReplyDeleteOk so i didn't vote i didnt think you'd be tallying them up so soon and i definatly think you should go for the pixie cut...especially now i have seen the pictures :) good luck you'll look great either way
ReplyDeleteI'm a convert! DO IT! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.... having had short hair for years and years I would have a really tough time cutting the ponytail off. So easy to pop it up, stick on a baseball hat and go. For me....short hair and baseball caps do NOT work. So, I do the hair thing every day....and envy those who don't have to. On the other side, however.... My daughter had very long hair for quite a long time. She met a new fella who loved short hair and wanted her to lop it off. I was horrified and voiced my opinion... "DON'T DO IT!!!!"...but, the new boy had lots more influence than Mummy....so she did it. She walked in the door and I about fell over... She was STUNNING! It made her eyes look enormous and she was totally beautiful. .... So, there it is. My opinion? Go for it. Locks of Love would be thrilled and I think it would be adorable. And, hair grows back if you really don't like it. :-)
ReplyDeleteWarm blessings,
Spencer
PS.... thanks for your visit and sweet compliment on my new blog look....
PSS... I see the Bare Escentuals ads on your blog... I actually USE that make-up. If you haven't tried it... give it a shot! It is FABULOUS.
hi marygrace,
ReplyDeleteit didn't take much to convince me. you would be cute with no hair. and i am planning my spring/summer wardrobe too.
xo
janet
You look adorable either way. But I say "go for it"
ReplyDeleteYou had me at the very mention of the possibility of you going pixie. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the pics of you "playing dress-up!" You look something like a very mischievous first lady or something in that second to last one (with the white blouse and animal-print blazer).
Can't wait to see the change! Hope you do go for it!
Ok, Sweet, I think you might just want to do it! I've grown accustomed to the idea, and the photos with the faux pixie are quite convincing. You'll be beautiful either way, but you have my vote to go for it! :-)
ReplyDeleteXOXO
mama
Yes, do it.
ReplyDeleteLong parenthetical: (Initially, I thought "no way," but I'm not big on change. Then I looked at the pictures you posted modeling the new 'do, and I think you definitely have the face and shape for it. [Pixies on larger or very tall women can create an odd proportion.] Also, I think thick hair works well for a pixie cut because there isn't quite as much styling necessary. Lastly, you mentioned possibly going blonde. I think highlights would be nice, but definitely talk to your stylist first. Taking dark hair lighter is not easy, and it's not simple to dye it back, either. One last comment that if you do decide to go much lighter, take care to ensure that your eyebrows are an appropriate color. I canNOT stand [artificially] blonde hair with dark brown eyebrows!)
So cute! I think you look a lot like Rachael Leigh Cook, and she's definitely the master of all things pixie! It'll be a big change, but I say go for it. :)
ReplyDeletestill a yes vote here! I think you have the perfect jaw structure for it. don't get me wrong, I looooove your long hair and am completely jealous of it, but I am also a firm believer in that everyone should try out short hair at least once in their life.
ReplyDeletealso, I still think it's awesome that your mom comments. :)
Do it, your hair will grow back and you will be giving to a great cause!
ReplyDeleteHappy hair cutting!
Xo,
E&J
you have AWESOME hair! your hair in that ponytail is gorgeous. but.. a pixie cut would look super cute too so I say do what you want!! :)
ReplyDeleteMG you have BEAUTIFUL hair!! I would do almost anything have that long, thick, dark hair! But at the same time those pixie cuts look great, and I honestly loved the short bob too :) So I'll be an enabler and vote to go for it!
ReplyDeleteYou totally have the eyes to pull off a pixie! Your eyes always look charming, mysterious and playful at the same time.
ReplyDeletep.s. you've been awarded!
