So this is how long my hair is from the front.
And here's how long it is in the back ... it's really freakin' long! I'm seriously thinking about chopping it off and getting a pixie cut. I've wanted a pixie cut for 2 years, and I think I'm just now to the point where I'll actually do it. My husband really likes the idea, and he keeps telling me to just go for it.
I did that thing where you put a celebrity's hair on your head to see how it looks. This is Victoria Beckham's pixie cut.
This is Sienna Miller's pixie cut.
And this is Mena Suvari's. I actually really like the blonde, too! Since it's such a short cut, maybe I'll even go blonde. I don't know, what do you guys think? Give me your HONEST opinion, please!
PS I have to decide by Friday! Ahh!
PPS If I do it I'll probably be like, doubling Locks of Love weekly hair donation income, haha
UPDATE: LOL, everyone is saying nay! You guys were supposed to enable me! Do these pictures help my case at all? Look at all the pretty pixies!
Update #2: Since you guys are saying get a bob, I thought I'd include some pics of me when I had a bob. I just don't think it's that cute on me!
No idea why I'm making that face, sorry:-/
I vote nay on the pixie cut. Maybe do a nice bob if you want short and different?
ReplyDeleteI am TOTALLY with anon. on this. I think a bob would be so cute (or maybe start off with a bob and go shorter later if you want?) and maybe blondish highlights?!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love your long, pretty, dark hair with your striking, dark eyes..
ReplyDeletesorry marygrace but i agree with everyone else. i love your long hair! that being said...it is your head so i think if you go for it it's gonna be beautiful.

Well, I disagree with everyone. I think it would be cute; but I'd keep it brown. By the way, how long did it take you to grow your hair out that long?! And how long does it take you to blow dry it?! The shorter 'do will be much easier to take care of. I think you could pull off a short cut because your hair seems to be thick. I'm sure any style would look great 'cause your just cute anyway!
ReplyDeleteIt would be shocking, I tell you, SHOCKING! I'm sure we would get used to the new Mary Grace in time, and it could always grow out. But I'm going with the crowd and saying... nay!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with most ppl and say nay. I love your hair now but I do understand about needing a change. I don't think you would want to go that drastic at first anyway so I would maybe try a long bob at first and see how it feels on you. You will get something different and not so drastic then you can decide if you want to go the the pixie in a few months. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI say DO IT! You only live once, live without regrets! It will grow back.
ReplyDeleteI like the long hair...sorry.....
ReplyDeleteI say go for it, and I will live vicariously through you. I'm trying to grow my hair out, but part of me wants to chop it off SO bad... it's what I always do and then I get mad at myself for not sticking to growing it out.
ReplyDeleteanyway, I like VBeck's cut on you, but I think you should stay dark. :)
remember - it's only hair!
I love your hair. Mine gets all gnarly and split past a certain length - I'd kill for your locks.
ReplyDeleteThat said. If you want a change - do it. Pixie cuts though... not so much. They actually require a bit more maintenance than you'd think. I think short hair needs more "doing" than long hair. Sure, you'd save on shampoo/conditioner, but you'd spend a lot of time perfecting your look daily.
Do what makes you happy though - it's just hair. If you hate it, it will grow back.
Don't go blonde. BIGGEST mistake ever.
Anon: Well, I've had a bob before and I don't think it looks good on me:(
ReplyDeleteLizzie: Highlights are a good idea, maybe I'll just do the whole thing a shade or two lighter?
Kelli-Anne: I like your hair, too! We're hair twins!
Janet: Thank you!
Anon #2: I've had a few bobs here and there, but for the most part I've had my long hippie hair for about 11 years! It takes about 20 minutes to blow-dry and another 20 minutes to straighten, because it's naturally wavy.
Mom: LOL, shocking is probably a pretty accurate word, especially since I've kept my hair long almost my whole life!
Emily Ann: That's true, it probably is a pretty large leap to take all at once.
Rachel: YAYY for an enabler! Thank you, new best friend! LOL;)
Jenny: You're in good company, haha:)
Mandee: Thanks! It IS only hair, that's what I keep telling myself! As someone that has been growing out her hair her whole life, I can tell you that it IS pretty fun having really long hair, you should grow yours out!
USA Kiwi: Really?? Thank you! It's funny, I almost never get complimented on my long hair, people just say generic things like "It sure is long!" or "Wow, it must take forever to wash!", haha, so I never really feel that great about it! So, thanks:)
That's a good point about having to style it every day. Hmm...
I think you could totally pull off the pixie cut! You have a beautiful face and the cut would really show it off. Any it will always grow back =]
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted one for two years, I say go for it! It WILL grow back. I also think it will look cute on you, but keep it brown.
ReplyDeleteI think you should go for it! Especially if you have had long hair most of your life - - it seems to grow fast and if you get the right hair cut from a good hairdresser, it will come out looking adorable and feminine! And I think headbands and stuff are SO cute with pixies! I agree w/ the one person that said the VB pixie...have fun!
ReplyDeleteI think you can definitely pull off a bob that's a bit longer than chin-length - why not try that and then graduate to a pixie if you love your short hair?
ReplyDeleteI am always changing my hair color up so I can totally relate. What about one of those bobs where its longer in the front and angled up in the back?
ReplyDeleteOr just cut a couple inches off and add in long layers. Maybe just that little bit will give you your fix. You can always cut more later.
I'm surprised so many people are saying no. I say go for it. Especially if your man doesn't mind. But do it because you want to. Your face is so cute, it'll totally work. And that sunny weather in SD is perfect for a pixie, that is what I got when I lived there. And I'm surprised someone said it takes more time, I loved mine because it was so EASY. Some hair gel, a quick blow dry and I was set! My hair is so fine that when it is long it can look greasy and blah real quick. It had so much more body to it short. Really for me the draw back was the expense of getting it cut regularly. Now I'd rather spend my money on other things so I'm growing my hair out.
ReplyDeleteOh and I though I say go for it on the cut (it will grow back if you don't like it) I would advise caution on coloring. I dyed mine red last year (natural color is medium brown) and my hair has never been the same! All I want is my medium brown hair back. Even after two brown dye jobs the red is still showing through again--and it's a nasty brassy red. :( I'm going to have to dye it AGAIN-- soon I think. So I'd stay away from dye.
Bailey: Oh, you made my day. Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteKelly: Thanks! I think I probably will keep it brown. Maybe even go a little darker?
Liz: Thank you! I really do hope it looks feminine, that's my main concern!
Amy & Pine Tree: That's a good idea, I just don't think I look good with a bob!
You're right about the bob. Go all or nothing.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog from Jennyfreestyle's- Do it! I love pixie cuts and you look like you have a good face for it :)
ReplyDeleteNo! Your hair is gorgeous and it suits your face beautifully!
ReplyDeleteIf you're feeling a change then I say change the color.. You can always change it back and if the new color isn't enough THEN go for a cut. I think you'd look great with a rich auburn color.
I say go for it!!! I used to have super long hair & I cut it all off. I love pixie cuts because its less hassle.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I am due for a cut asap!
do it! do it! do it!!
I say do it!
ReplyDeleteMy husband would be thrilled if I said that I wanted a pixie cut! haha. He would be able to convince me if I optioned for it!
I love the example #3 you showed with a pixie cut but a swoop in the front... do it! Hair will grow back again and again!
I'm another vote for yes-YES-YES! I think it would look just fabulous on you - I could especially picture you with the Sienna Miller version you posted. DO IT!
ReplyDeleteI am DYING to see if you went through with it!!! Hurry along now!!!! Let us know <3
