the guest bedroom is (sort of) completed!

I feel like a proud mama showing off my new baby. Isn't she adorable?

I know what you're thinking: "is that Elizabeth Dole circa 1990's? And is that old guy picking his nose?" Yes, that is Elizabeth Dole, and that guy is a deceased British gentleman actor, and he is scratching the OUTSIDE of his nose. But in this picture it totally looks like he's picking it. These are portraits, by one of our favorite photographers, that we bought a few months ago. I didn't care who was in the portraits, I just really liked how they looked!

Putting this cute little vintage vanity case in the chair allows it to double as a nightstand. That red shelf used to hold all our spices in our old apartment kitchen, so you may recognize it from previous blog posts. Now it has a home in the guest bedroom, holding bottles and sea creatures.

I'm pretty proud of the headboard! We made it ourselves. I told my husband the dimensions I wanted, and he bought the wood and cut it, assembled it, and I upholstered it. I broke out the paints and paintbrushes and painted the giant pattern. I'm very happy with how it turned out:)

here's a closer look!

What we still have to do:

Find/buy a white duvet cover
Frame or mount the black and white portraits
(maybe) buy a rug

We had a little "sleepover" in here last night, and I'm happy to report that the new mattress is super comfortable! Thanks for following along while we fixed up this fun and happy room, I hope you like it:)

PS Check out this adorable blog, Emily Ann Interiors. She did a cute little feature on white waxflower! Thanks, Emily!

Anon - Thanks for asking! I actually majored in Psychology. I'm working on a little FAQ post, but I feel silly posting it. Maybe I will, though:)
