reclaimed wood prettiness

So you may remember that I've been trying to decide whether to keep this coffee table...

or this one.

Well, now I'm thinking I may sell or donate both of them!

I am loving the idea of making our own coffee table using re-claimed wood. Now, how I'll go about finding wood from a barn or fence in Orange County, land of the shiny and new, is another story. It could be tricky! I was thinking of posting an ad on Craigslist for the outer San Diego area. There's lots of old buildings and farms around there.

Aren't those great? I'd love it if we could find some wood that had been painted a few times. It would be so cool to see different flecks of paint here and there.

If this goes well, maybe we'll try making our own dining table, with benches on the sides instead of chairs ... and then really pretty chairs for the heads of the table. But I'm getting ahead of myself now:)

  1. Love the reclaimed wood style! If you weren't on the opposite coast I'd recommend checking out the store where I worked for years - they sell a lot of this type of furniture. But making your own might be more fun anyway! :) Can't wait to see what you come up with. Your blogs make me want to decorate!

  3. Jaclyn, that's so cool! I wish I could shop there ... my quest for salvaged wood isn't going well and I'm starting to think of just buying one! I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll find some, though.

Jess - I wish you did too! I think I'm gonna put it on Craigslist and see if I get some bites:)
