Christmas crafts are comin' to town

At long last, here's the how-to video for the little Christmas tree! Sorry to assault you with so much Christmas-ness (my festive headband, the music, the fact that it's a Christmas craft to begin with) before Thanksgiving, but I thought I should post this in plenty of time for you guys to make one, if you want:)



I didn't include in the video the instructions on how to make the mold, since there are already lots of tutorials online about how to make a coat hanger Christmas tree mold, but you can click here to see the directions that I used.

Disclaimer: the book that I tore apart for this project came from the 99cent store, and is quite possibly the most hilariously bad book ever written. I only read a page or two, and I take no responsibility for the contents! So if you are looking at the pictures above, are able to make out what something says, and find yourself offended by it, don't go saying I didn't warn you;)

whimsical embroidered tags: a new how-to

This project requires sewing, but you by no means have to be good at sewing! In fact, the more sloppy your skills, the cuter your tag will look. For my project, I took a Trader Joe's coffee can, peeled off the paper label, added my little homemade tag and voila! Instant charm and whimsy;)

Oh boy, I think I may be addicted to making how-to videos, you guys! Now every time I lift a finger around the house I find myself thinking "Oooo I wonder if this would make a cute how-to video!?" Today I bring you my newest addition: "How To Make a Faux-Antique Drawing". I made up this little technique a year or two ago (though I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this), and have drawings just like this one all over my house.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention, if you don't want your drawing to turn out as dark and browny as mine is, use less worcestershire sauce and more water.

it's my blogiversary!

On this date, last year I posted my very first blog post. There wasn't much to it, but my buddy Jillian and I had agreed to start blogs together, so I started mine. It's certainly come a long way since then, and I couldn't be more proud of my little spot on the internet:)

To celebrate, I am posting my very first how-to video! This one is going to be hard to top, because I love it sooooo much. It's How To Get The "Anthroplogie" Look Using Household Items. You won't get much information from the video, mostly just me talking, followed by a Trading Spaces-style, fast-motion video of me decorating the room. But tomorrow (or Saturday if I drag my feet) there will be a full post explaining how I did everything.

Thanks so much, everyone for making this year so much fun for me. I would have stopped blogging a long time ago if it weren't for all the kind, positive feedback from you guys. I love ya'll!!!!
