I'm just mad about: maps

Maps seem to be everywhere in the design world right now, and I'm getting in on the trend! Carmen from Life Blessons made this adorable map that I found on Pinterest. I made my own map just like it, and my husband and I had so much fun filling out the little papers to represent some of our adventures together:)

My dear friend Claire gave me this California map print recently. Isn't it adorable? Speaking of Claire, she got ENGAGED this weekend!!! Yayyyyyyy!!!

This is another fun Pinterest find that I haven't gotten around to copying yet. All you need is a piece of paper with a heart cut out of the middle, and a small map of a destination you love:)

And now for the part where you get free stuff! I was at the local library last week, rummaging through a big box of books they were giving away, and I found something pretty cool: a vintage textbook full of beautiful old maps! I scanned a whole bunch of them into my computer and I'm sharing them with you guys:) If you have trouble clicking, downloading or printing them, let me know and I can email you the files!

I just love the colors in these two Canada ones.

a little gift (or three) from white waxflower

For a while now I've been trying to come up with a cute print to create as a little gift just for white waxflower readers. I've always thought this ad would make an adorable cartoon-ified print, so I set about drawing my own version while I was sick in bed this week! I created one print with three slight variations: the color of the dress. I am including all three here for you, jumbo-sized, free of charge and ready to be clicked and printed out, if you'd like:)

six months of fun

Back in February, The Petersiks over at Young House Love posted this adorable calendar that they made (see photo below). The top of their's was filled with inside jokes that they shared, which were fun to read. They were kind enough to share the photoshop template that they used with everyone, and even though the year is halfway over, I decided I wanted one, too! I wanted to make it my own, with something that was a little more "me".

Luckily for me, my husband is great with photoshop. I emailed him 6 adorable, retro ads that color-coordinated with the colors of the different months on the calendar. Searching for the different ad images was the most fun part, some of them were hilarious. He took out the Petersik's inside jokes, inserted these ads, and voila! These adorable calendars:

The one from November is hilarious. It's an ad for Camel cigarettes, and it breaks down each course of the traditional Thanksgiving meal, and explains why the best thing you can do for yourself and your health is to smoke a Camel cigarette in between each course. The Christmas one shows Mrs. Clause going through a stack of letters addressed to her, and telling Santa that every woman wants an ironing board for Christmas. So funny!

They're the perfect size - just big enough that you can write in the spaces, but small enough to stick on the fridge.

i made a monster for you

If you've given or received a gift card from Anthropologie in the last few months, than you've seen this absolutely adorable monster that they put the gift cards in.

He has the cutest little underbite, and his teeth are the top of the to/from card for the gift card.

I wanted to make one myself, so I made him a friend. This is Alexander.

He is made of ticking stripe and has pink thread. 

I made a lot of mistakes, so I wanted to try again, because I knew I could do better.

So I made Victoria. She's gray with dots and has orange thread, and she has a white hair bow.

Isn't she cute?

She's perfect for holding your business cards or membership cards, too.

Victoria loves music, and would also be willing to hold your iPod for you.
