I promise I'm not slowly trying to turn this into a fashion blog or anything, but I was so blown away by the amazing prices at H&M recently that I just had to mention them to you guys, in case any of you are in need of some cute basics! This skirt was only SIX DOLLARS, and the shirt was only 8 dollars! Crazy, right? I got the skirt in stripes and in black, and I got the shirt in gray and in white. And just for the record, H&M isn't paying me to say any of this ... I just get really excited about cheap, cute clothes, haha:)
And I just wanted to say again: thank you guys so, so, so, so, SO much for all the kind words about my hair. You guys have nooooooo idea how much your sweet compliments meant to me ... I read them all over and over and over! Cutting all that hair off wasn't easy. When they put it up in the "donation" ponytails and got ready to snip it off I closed my eyes and buried my face in my hands until it was over! But I'm so excited to be able to donate alllllll that hair, and thanks to all of you I'm feeling very secure about my new 'do! And, as you can see in the photo above, I can even ditch the Audrey look and style it into a pretty sweet 'hawk when I feel like it;) LOL
And now on to something more house-related, I have a confession to make: While I'd love to be able to claim that the wall behind our sofa looks this picturesque all the time, the reality is that it most often looks like this ...
We don't have an entertainment center, so all of our DVDs and video games stay in this library dresser you see below, our TV stays in the guest bedroom....
and we use a projector to watch TV downstairs. Which is AWESOME, because it's like having a 100 inch TV screen in our living room whenever we want, but the problem is that without an entertainment center, the shelves behind our couch are constantly covered in speakers, tripods, etc.
What do YOU guys do with all of your TV-and-movie-watching gadgets? Do any of you have pictures of your living room set-up on your blog that you could link me to in the comments? I'm looking for solutions, here!
hi marygrace,
ReplyDeletei like it when my fav bloggers include fashion in their posts. i think style is style baby! if you've got it flaunt it.
loving the hair still. i never watch tv except for movies and football. but we do have a tv in an armoire. i know that is like so old-fashioned now but i prefer to not see the tv. i thought the introduction of the armoire to the average home was a brilliant idea b/c tv, video and stereo equip is just not pretty. before armoires we had wires and such all over the place. so me, i'm never going back.
xo

ReplyDeleteplease feel free to visit my illustration blog if you like

I am so jealous you have H&M....it was everywhere in Europe and now if i want to go i have to travel to Scotsdale, AZ (from Austin, TX) not fair :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't have an H&M in KC either :( St. Louis is the closest one but Chicago would be a more fun road trip :)
ReplyDeletegah your hair is so cute, it makes me want to chop mine off again! and your house is soo cute! so glad i found your blog!
Love those outfits! I have an H&M a few blocks from my place (yay, NY!) and you're right, their prices are SO reasonable! I might have to walk over and have a look at what they have.
ReplyDeleteFor all of our wires and whatnot, we just stuff in the TV stand/entertainment center. I picked out one that looks like a dresser because I love that homey feel. One of the drawers contains all of our wires and electronics while the other drawers house our DVDs. :)
PS Thanks for the super sweet comments you left me! <3

My entertainment stuff is so messy, I'll never be posting it on my blog, lol. Wires and DVDs and cases for movies and games all over the place. Not to mention hard drives and speakers and various consoles... Take it this way, I aspire for mine to look like what you're trying to fix! That's how bad it is! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I were talking just this week about all our gadgets and what to do with them. We have several Wii remotes and a couple of Nunchucks, so I've been looking for a cute basket of some sort (that matches our living room decor...and maybe has a lid?) to put them in.
ReplyDeleteyour hair looks great!!!
ReplyDeletemy girls (19 &14) are huge h&m fans...we get a lot of bang for our buck there...forever 21 is another cheap, chic stop for us.

I'm no help. We keep our DVD player, Wii, XBox and stereo stuck behind childproofed cupboards in our credenza. All our stuff is only let out into the open when the baby is sleeping:(
ReplyDeleteYou look sooo cute!!! You are much braver than I am!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw your comment on Karla's Closet. I have been slowly inching my hair up and I hit pixie a couple weeks ago too! Her blog and Glamourai.com are just so inspiring. It was great to see what fashion with short hair could look like. I was really worried about that! Anyway, your hair looks great and welcome to the club!

So my suggestion, since you are asking...:)
ReplyDeleteI think a sofa table could be a great addition. Tuck it behind your beautiful couch and then you could have the speakers right there by your ears without them being visible. Then you'll also have a place to set drinks and snacks where they will be close but not spilling. Of course you could scour the thrift stores and flea markets for a cute table...and we know how handy you are at repainting. It also be a bonus area for more artwork or lighting if you need it.
I would also suggest thinning your shelves a bit and including the projector to be part of your decor. Just give it a home up there if it is living there all the time anyway. If I'm interpreting the equipment right it looks like the projector is just a box--you could even leave it there and put a little picture in front of it, or a gorgeous vintage book and therefore cover it up without moving it. Just move the picture/book/whatever when you are ready to watch a movie.
I'm not sure what role the tripod has but I think you could even incorporate that into the decor. It's a bit modern for your taste but maybe you could dress it up with pretty (color coordinating) ribbon or something. Or what if you bought some little chandelier gems and hung them from the tripod? (They'd have to be little but sometimes antique/thrift stores just sell spares/parts.)
Okay, well, maybe some of that will spark some ideas for you. You look fab with the short hair! I especially love the Audrey look.
