Lately I've had a bit of an obsession: colorful, multi-fabric throws. They appeal so much to my wannabe bohemian-hippie-gypsy-bag-lady side. Just take a look at these breathtakingly beautiful ones by Niki Jones, which were made by stitching the fabric from vintage saris together.

If you look closely at this picture of the little inspiration board above my desk, you'll see a torn-out photo of a gorgeous old suzani throw that is draped over a settee. I tore that image out of a magazine ages ago, and I've never been able to get that throw out of my mind.

When I first saw that picture I thought "Well, maybe I'll just treat myself to a vintage suzani throw!" and started shopping, only to find that they don't exactly come cheap.
This one, par exemple, is marked at the oh-so-reasonable price of $2,495. Practically giving it away.

But wouldn't it look positively perfect placed lovingly on our sofa? A cheaper option might be trying to round up some Mexican suzani fabrics.

Which sort of remind me of the colorful muumuus my friends Claire, Jill, Jillian, and I are fond of purchasing (and modeling) when in Mexico.

For more colorful, exotic fabric eye candy, check out Brit designer Kathryn M. Ireland's collection. She has a fabulous style that I dream of one day being able to emulate perfectly. Cote de Texas wrote a blog post full of drool-worthy photos of her house that, interestingly, Reese Witherspoon ended up purchasing.

This is just one of the many pictures from that home that I have saved in my inspiration file. Dear Reese, if you ever decide that a modest, two-story townhouse in San Diego is more your style, I'll be happy to swap with you.

Wouldn't these make beautiful throws? It seems impossible to buy her fabrics online, I guess you have to actually go to the store to get your hands on them, but they sure are pretty!
