there's someone I'd like you to meet...

Notice anything new?

There's this serious-looking gentleman, which is simply a print I found by Googling for vintage portraits, printing it off and throwing it in a frame from Goodwill.

I don't have any rights to it, so hopefully this won't get me in trouble, but I'm including it here so you can click it and print one out for yourself if you'd like.

And then of course there's "Mitzi", the lady in that portrait on the left ...

And then, oh yeah! There's just this ABSOLUTELY PERFECT CHRISTMAS PRESENT THAT MY HUSBAND GAVE ME LAST NIGHT!!!

In case you can't tell, I'm just a little bit giddy over it. It's an original portrait painting from the early 1900's, and after he let me open it I pretty much just spent the rest of the evening staring at it in utter adoration. I love everything about this painting, from the safety pin at the top of his shirt to his bushy mustache to the way the paint has chipped and crackled over the years. It's just too good to be true:)

Now all he needs is a name! Any ideas?

  1. Your new painting is fabulous! What a wonderful gift from your dear, sweet hubby. For some reason, he looks like a Milton to me. But... his friends call him Milt. Daddy says he may be an Albert.
    Love you tons!
    Mama
    P.S. Lawrence?

  3. Oh I love the painting of the man with the mustache, I immediately focused on him in the first photo. He has so much character and I love the way his features are slightly exaggerated. He is most certainly an Ed to me. Edgar.
The grouping of portraits is so wonderful, all three are full of life!

  7. Mom & Dad: LOL, Milton, Albert and Lawrence are all perfect! How will I ever choose?

Lizzie: Randolph! Haha, I love it!

Mrs. B: Aww, thanks! I like Edgar because it sounds sophisticated, yet quirky, like the man in the painting:)

Caux: That's two votes for Milton!

Jader: Thank you! Francis is cute:)

Anon/Ashley: He does look a little like Mr. Butch!

Liz: Haha! Lester is a great name!

My vote goes with Mr. Mooney, I like Albert. Or Alfred perhaps?

  9. He looks like a Colonel to me. No actual name, just The Colonel. ;) But you have so many great ideas in these comments - I can also see him as a Milton or an Edgar. But I think he'll always be The Colonel to me now. I can't get it out of my head!

  10. Jill: I like Albert, too! And Alfred is adorable! I think he did a splendid job, too ... But just so you know, you're still at the top of the stack of people I tell him to consult if he ever gets stuck and can't think of anything to get me;)

Poly: Haha! Okay, that is awesome ... The Colonel! That is so cute!
