As promised, I'm back with a post all about how to get the anthro show-room look for practically free:) Click here if you want to see the room come together in high-speed, happy-music form! I've done my best to detail what every thing is and how to copy the room, but if I've overlooked something, please let me know!
b. Prints from a book of prints that I bought for 2 bucks at Barnes and Noble in the clearance section. If there aren't any good clearance sales around you right now, head over to vintage printable and print some out for free!
c. Cookie cutter hanging by green yarn.
d. Coffee filter with a large "M" that I traced onto book paper, cut out and taped on. There's a similar one on the bottom right corner of the board that I simply sketched the "M" directly onto.
e. Sheet music. If you don't have the heart to cut up an old book of piano music, just Google "sheet music" and print some off!
f. Vintage photographs. A store here in Ocean Beach has a whole shoebox full of them for about 50 cents each, so I bought a bunch of those, but you could just print some off onto photo paper by Googling something like "vintage family photos".
g. Home-made sketches that I "aged" and distressed. Next week I'm posting a tutorial video on how to do this! It's really fun.
h. Postal tags - I wrote Will Rogers quotes on mine.
b. Misc. items listed above: vintage photo, book pages, sheet music.
c. "Map" dish towel from anthroplogie, but you could use any dish towel, a scrap of fabric, or a vintage scarf.
e. Old wooden mail sorter that I found sitting next to someone's trash cans (embarrassed face). I filled it with vintage postcards and photos.
a. Misc items: vintage photo, print, book pages, cookie cutter on yarn.
b. Lampshade that I re-covered here with a vintage silk scarf.
c. Print with my name and name-meaning that I've had since I was a little girl.
d. Vintage books and book-ends. The book-ends are actually hardware brackets like these from anthro, but you can use just about any flat, heavy object as a book-end, including other books!
e. Coffee mug filled with costume jewelry pearls.
Bonus items: On the left-hand bedpost, at the top, I tied one of my scarves into a big floppy bow. As for the bulletin board, I just covered a canvas in brown postal paper. If you don't have a canvas lying around, you can make one from scratch for very cheap, or you could even just tack up a large piece of cardboard from a box and use that as your bulletin board!
Happy Decorating!
What fun to look at all the details. I must say that the big chunky blanket is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I love all of the details. Where did you get the off white cream chunky knit blanket?
ReplyDeleteGREAT job on the video! While the wall is a little busy for my taste, I think you did a great job. And, again, very cute video. It was so much fun seeing how you put it all together!
ReplyDeletelove it, great job! I'd love to hear where the blanket is from too, I just love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kind comments, you guys! The chunky blanket is from Anthropologie. I got it early this year, and sadly they don't sell it anymore. I tried to track it down for ya'll, but I can't find anything about it, and the blanket itself doesn't have a tag:(
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my blog! Just those two are so encouraging.. Your video on the last post was so neat! Scarlett and i were lying on my bed watching it and "oohh-ed" and giggled in unison when you showed the before and after pictures :) you are so creative and adorable, such a hipster ;)
ReplyDeleteKellie Anne - You're welcome! I know how fun it is to get comments, and trust me ... it never gets old! I still do a little happy dance whenever I get comments, haha:) Tell Scarlett I said hello, and thanks to both of you for checking out my little video.
ReplyDeleteI loved the video! Happy music and watching it all come together--so neat! You are very creative and I can't wait to move into my new house so I can decorate it. Thanks for giving me a "decorating fix" until then:)
