One weekend when I was in college my mother visited me, and brought with her an arrangement in this rectangle glass/jute pot. Isn't it adorable? It's so white waxflower:) The arrangement is long gone, but I've held on to the container for years. These cute yellow marigolds were just 6 for $2.50 at the hardware store, so I snatched them up.
Didn't it turn out so cute?
Amazing how much flowers make spaces feel happier.
I had one little marigold plant left, so I plopped it in a plain white mug. It makes me smile every time I wash my hands (or a dish)!
Over the weekend I finally made a decision: the portrait is now hanging in the landing. Thanks so, so much to everyone that gave an opinion! You guys rock. I'm happy with the decision, because it's out of direct sunlight, but still in a place where guests will see it when they come over. Because what's the point of having a cute picture if you can't show it off without acting like you're showing it off, right? :)
what pretty pictures. your porch is very inviting. right now i'm so envious of the amount of gardening you have to do! though our house is small the garden is not and we don't have any sprinklers! hand watering is a full time job. but i cannot complain about the weather it has been so mild.

i have that huge blue vase, too! ables, right? also, i am in love with meyers dish soap...it makes me so happy!
ReplyDeleteHa, anything that makes you smile while washing dishes is worth it in my book!
ReplyDeleteJanet - Part of me is dying to get a house with a nice big yard, but the other part of me knows that when I do, I'll miss the days when my gardening consisted of just sunning and watering a few potted plants;)
ReplyDeleteMarley - Haha, yes! It is from Ables! So funny that we both have it! And Meyers is awesome. That bottle has lasted us almost 3 months and it's barely over half way gone. Have you tried any of their other products? We've only tried the dish soap so far.
Heather - LOL. Truer words were never spoken!
