a travel through white waxflower history

In honor of my brand new blog design, I thought it might be fun to take a little trip down memory lane, back to the days of old (October 2009) when I first started making my own banners.

Here's white waxflower's baby picture. This is how it looked when it very first began! I was so proud that I was able to make a customized font for my banner. I thought I had really gotten the hang of this whole blogging thing, haha:)

And here we are in the toddler years. This was the most short-lived of all my designs. I loved the buttons, so sleek and modern, and I loved the vintage, flea-market feel of the banner picture ... but sadly, I knew in my heart that they clashed. This is also when I first started using a tagline, which was "a love for the simple and sophisticated".

And then white waxflower hit puberty! The biggest change came when, in what turned out to be about a 4-hour event, my husband and I finally cracked the code (literally) on HTML. We hacked this site down to the bare bones and built it back up with a new backdrop, jumbo-sized pictures and writing space, and a made-from-scratch banner. Also, I premiered the buttons/pages and the new tagline: "living life like I'm in a nora ephron movie".

Which brings us to today! There's always room for improvement, so I won't say white waxflower is an adult yet, but maybe in college. Here's what's changed:

1. new pictures: I loved the old ones, but they were all about 2 years old, and they were taken out and about in Orange County. We're in San Diego now, and I wanted my banner to represent the older, re-located "me" :) The new banner features two pictures of our house, and a picture that my husband took of me just this week.

2. the font: the sweet, pale pink cursive "white waxflower" title was lovely ... but the bright, aqua "typewriter" font is just more my style.

3. the backdrop: I'm crazy about natural materials, and use them as often as I can, so it only seemed fitting that my backdrop look beachy and all-natural as well.

I hope you enjoy the new white waxflower!
