the newly-decorated living room: part two

I'm back! And I have more pictures of my beachy, breezy new living room:) There's so much to blog about, I don't know where to start! I'll try and let the pictures do the talking. There's my new jute rug ... I love it because it reminds me of the sandy beach that's just a few blocks away:)

I'm really excited about these floating shelves. We got those brackets from Anthropologie, and the wood came from Home Depot. I had planned to paint them, but I kinda like the bare wood look. They are filled with some vintage books from my collection, my great-grandmother's rotary phone, and some other little collectibles.

I blogged about my plans to make this flowery wall art a while back, and here it is all finished! I'm really happy with how it turned out:) I felt kinda ridiculous hoarding empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls for weeks beforehand so I could make this. I kept them hidden behind a standing mirror, and I asked my husband if he thought I should leave a note back there explaining why they were there. I was worried something would happen to us, and when our families went to clean out our home they'd find our hoarded TP rolls and think we were totally bananas. This table was a $25 dollar Craigslist find. I love the look of glass coffee tables, so airy and open, and I've had my eye open for one for a long time. A paint job with a $4 can of aqua spray paint totally transformed it!

I've been looking for a captain's bench to paint white for months, and months, and months! I was so excited when my mother and I were shopping at the Ocean Beach antique fair and found this guy for just $25! I'm sad I didn't get a before & after, but it totally slipped my mind. My husband painted it white for me, and I did a light distressing job. Love it!

Come back tomorrow for pictures of my patio! You won't want to miss it;)
