end tables and jemima

A few days ago we picked up these pretty oak end tables.
They were previously owned by a newlywed couple that is moving in together and now has two of everything.

At first they don't look so bad (except for the very 80's-looking hardware)

until you see this ..

and this..

While we were sanding the other one, Jemima hopped up on this one to enjoy the view.

Here they are a few coats of Martha Stewart's "Zinc" (available at Home Depot), and a hardware update later:

I did some distressing to break up all that gray

and painted the inside drawer a charming ice blue. Sorry I can't tell you the name of the paint color ... I mixed it up myself. These tables are for sale, and have already been spoken for. Yay!

Lucky for us, Jemima showed up right as I was almost done taking pictures and plopped herself down in front of the tables for some modeling.

with apologies for being so late to her photo shoot, of course.

Working on a BIG, three-day project right now. Hope to be posting pictures by tomorrow night or Thursday at the latest. And this one isn't going to be painted Martha Stewart's "Zinc", I promise!

  1. I love these! Totally would buy them if we lived near y'all! How do you distress something? That would be an interesting post, maybe! (if you already haven't done it)

  3. I love the hardware. It's amazing how it can give a piece such a facelift.
