One of our top choices for a rental house - this 1920's Spanish bungalow. It may be a little ho-hum on the outside (it needs window boxes!) but the inside is to die for. All hardwood floors? Yes, please.
My husband and I have been in this little apartment, biding our time, until we could move out and up and into a rental house. Many more details to come later ... but suffice to say I am SO excited to have a whole new space to decorate. My mind is almost constantly coming up with ideas for our new pad, and here are a few things I am going to be making or purchasing in the near future. As SOON as we're settled in (which should be in less than a month! WOW!) you can expect a detailed house tour.
Lots and lots of black and white portrait photography. Some will be pictures of us, most will be pictures like this one. I LOVE this one. I've already started a collection of photography books, so this part is as good as done ... I just need frames!
A jute area rug. perfect way to bring in a beachy, neutral California vibe indoors:)
A mid-century style couch. It's time for us to invest in a "grown up" couch, and I've had my eye on these for a loooooooong time.
I have SUCH a black thumb. I am determined, though, that this will be the year that somehow that all magically changes and I am able to keep sweet little houseplants alive.
Light, billowy curtains. I bought some just like these for our bedroom, and I love them. They add a nice softness to the room while still letting in lots of light even when they're closed!
Art Installations. OK, nothing crazy or anything ... just some fun stuff like this project from Design*Sponge to add some artistic flair to our new place.
I have a bunch more plans up my sleeve, so stay tuned!
So exciting! Congratulations, that little spanish bungalow is so adorable. I think it has a ton of character on the outside! I cant wait to see your progress once you move in.
ReplyDeletethat bungalow is so cute! I wanted to let you know that after playing a Tupelo wedding (@ Elvis's birthplace ha ha) we stopped into Salvation Army and ended up with 3 pieces of furniture for 30 bucks to paint, etc.! We have been inspired by your blog and will definitely have to post pics of the before & after. I'm thinking of doing crackle paint on the first one - have you tried crackle paint?
ReplyDeletePaper Cup - Thank you! I am soooooo excited!
ReplyDeleteLiz - Awww I'm honored that you were inspired! I can't wait to see how they all turn out! I've never tried crackle paint, but I've heard that all you have to do is paint a bottom coat, let it dry, then paint on a layer of glue. Before the glue has a chance to dry, paint on your top coat of paint (in a different color). Something about the glue drying faster than the paint is what makes it crackle.
Good luck!
