simple shelves

When I posted this picture it reminded me..

I've never really posted about my floating shelves!

They're just a small little corner of our home, but I change them out with every season.
This is my "it finally feels like spring and I can't wait to start going to the beach!" display:)

The newspaper article in the frame is our wedding announcement, the sea creatures are just things I picked up here and there from travels and stores, the framed sheet of music was a little something I threw together when I was bored one Saturday. I really like the look of sheet music, in case you never noticed! And that big white bird was purchased at Walgreens (of all places) on clearance for about $1.50. It was a very tacky, badly painted green and yellow, but a quick coat or two of shiny white spray paint made it look much more expensive.

The blue bowls are from Anthropologie, and I got them on clearance for $4.00 each about a year ago. I've noticed they're carrying them again now, so you can pick up some of your own:) The one on the left is filled with wine corks we've been collecting from special occasions since we were dating:) The one on the right is filled with little seashells, but you can't see that in this picture. If you're a teeotataler, you can get wine corks by the bag from Michael's. I think they make cute fillers. The little ceramic house and the "message in a bottle" bottle also came from Anthro, on clearance for about $5.00 each.

The sweet little brown bird was a gift from my mother, and it's from the Wolfe Studio. She's given me three of them, and I cherish them all! When we had an earthquake in July '08 and one of them fell and chipped, I was heartbroken:( I've learned to love the chip, though. It tells a story!
