So now that this chair...
.. has looked like this ...
for almost a month, I think I'm finally ready to buckle down and try my hand at some more challenging upholstery. The only problem is, I'm still sort of undecided about how I want it to look.
This linen and silhouette look is lovely and different.
And this faux-burlap sack look featured on Design*Sponge is fun, too.
{I spy the book-pages wreath}
.. but the wild child in me has been dying to have something zebra in my home. I had zebra throw pillows in my high school room and my college rooms and I loved them! And it wouldn't be quite as overwhelming as this chair is because this chair has a lot more fabric-area than mine does.
And of course the newly-emerging, wannabe bohemian in me loves this fabulous chair.
{edited to add: if I were to upholster it in the bohemian fabric, I would be using this version of the same fabric}
Your input is most welcome!
I vote stripes or bohemian! Although any of your choices will look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteZebra or Bohemian for sure :)
ReplyDeleteI really love the burlap look, especially if you contrasted it by painting the wood a dark color!
ReplyDeleteI really like the bohemian fabric or the linen and embroidery. If you do end up using the burlap be sure to break out some serious patience. It will unravel really quickly and will hurt your hands to pull taught. Whatever you decide to use I'd recommend wearing gloves to work on the chair or you will end up with some nasty blisters. Love the chair and can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm torn between burlap and zebra. Burlap is totally what I'd do for *my* house, but if you've been craving zebra, this may be the time to go for it! What are you planning to do with the wood as far as paint/stain/finish? The style of the chair itself would be a fun contrast with the zebra print.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide ... post pictures! :)
I vote for the linen/silhoutte. Wow that one just stood out for me. But I could see the zebra fitting in with a lot of different furniture and making a statement and you did say how much you love it. You should go with what you love.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the input, guys!!
ReplyDeleteI tallied your votes and that's one vote stripes, two votes each for burlap, linen and zebra, and three for bohemian!
I have to say, I'm kinda leaning towards bohemian! The only problem is the fabric will end up being about 25 dollars, and I try to keep my blog DIY projects under $15, but I may have to make an exception:)
