Lonny is an on-line magazine similar in vibe and aesthetic to the now-gone Domino magazine. This newest issue was great, and one article in particular I am totally smitten with. It's about two sisters that bought apartments on the same floor of a building together, (without planning to do so) and have the same layout, but you'd never know it to look at them. One of them is a total girly-girl, and her apartment is all things shiny, sparkly and Marilyn Monroe-esque. The other sister loves all things French, antique and eclectic. You can imagine which one I went gaga for. Let's put it this way: I read the "eclectic" sister's half of the article three ... yes, three ... times today. Embarrassing.
Her kitchen. Love the subway tile and the utensils and pots hanging out in the open.
The bedroom. Love the simple, natural colors, and the non-matching nightstands. Notice how she piled coffee table books under the lamp on the right so that they'd be the same height? Creative!
I've been searching for a couch like this for months that I could re-upholster and sell. She says she got this one on eBay. Good to know!
My husband and I are working on our own collection of art, so I always love seeing "real" art in other people's homes to see how they display it. I also love that she groups her books by color.
Where can I get an armchair exactly like that?? Also love the white chairs, and the zebra ottomans, and ... all of it.
I would have never thought to use such a bold choice of wallpaper for such a small space, but this is fabulous.
You can click here to view the Lonny magazine, and skip to page 166 to see the girl's apartments. The other one is totally fabulous, too!
