This is the latest version of an inspiration board I'm making for our living room overhaul. The color scheme is brown, sand, pink, black, white, and a yellowish gold. Of course, this board is just a starting place, and we'll by no means be buying all of this stuff. For instance, I'll definitely be making the two zebra ottomans rather than shell out $2,600 a piece for them.
You might be thinking "where's all the old flea market junk?". Well, this picture does look a lot more modern and Ikea-ish than my style, and it is. I couldn't import the things I actually own into this picture, so a lot of this is just pictures of the closest thing I could find. In actual fact, this room will look a lot more vintagey and antiquey (professional design terms) than this inspiration board.
Pink isn't exactly my husband's favorite color, so I've tried to balance it out with some more manly touches such as the jute rug and the floating bookshelves made of rough, re-claimed wood to hold our antique book collection. What you don't see here is that the fabric swatch in the middle-right side is to represent this chair and another one like it that will be in the room, covered in those fabrics.
black and white prints of our own: cost of developing/framing
white couch: $980
sedona tote box: $34 and up
mercury glass lamps: $170
re-claimed wood shelves with brackets: prices vary
jute rug: $125 and up
white dresser for TV: already have it:)
vintage nat geo mags: already have them:)
zebra ottomans: $2,600
rattan pouf: $80
I may change my mind and decide I hate all of this tomorrow, but for now I'm pretty pleased:) Those large black and white framed photos are stand-ins meant to represent some very large black and white photos of ourselves and our dog that we need to get framed. Yes, we're vain and we like looking at ourselves;)
Again, this is more of a vague representation. The real room will look much more worn-in, vintage and comfortable than this. Just wait (about 2.5 months) and see!
