"we are always getting ready to live, but never living."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson-I am extremely guilty of this. I'm always thinking "well when ___ happens, we'll be set", or "I just need to ___ and everything well be so much better". I tend to focus so much on the next thing that I forget to enjoy where I am. In jr. high I wanted to be in high school, in high school I wanted to be in college, in college I wanted to be out in the working world, and now that I'm in the working world, I'm thinking of all the "next" things like finding a town to settle down in, buying a house and traveling. It's so easy to get so focused on what's coming next that you forget to enjoy where you are today.
Is it too late to make a new year's resolution? Because my new one is to enjoy today:)
It's never to late to make a resolution, and I think it's a great one. You're right, so much of life is about looking forward, striving for the next thing - when really, it's enjoying the "now" that should be most important.
