a headboard how-to

I was so impressed when reader Eileen sent me this amazing project that she put together with her husband. It's DIY, involves antiques, and they pulled it off for very little money. My kinda girl!

Here are her action pictures. They bought this great antique door for only $25, and cleaned it up with some watered-down bleach, followed by lavender scented Pine Sol.




They found this sweet antique doorknob at a different store for only $12...



... and attached it using epoxy.



They attached legs to the door using L brackets.



And put in some extra support by adding rings so it could attach to the wall. I guess it never hurts to add in extra reinforcement when you're trying to avoid having a heavy wooden object land on your face while you sleep!



And here is the finished product. Isn't that the cutest idea ever? I LOVE it and now I want one!
