Remember this chair, which, after hours of tearing into and ripping apart, I found out was quite possibly worth a lot of money had I just left it alone? Oops.

And remember this slightly larger, but still sort of matching, chair that I found on Craigslist several months later?

Back in the spring I painted them white and upholstered them in some simple cream fabric, which was pretty, but lately I've been sort of obsessed with stripes, and was dying to bring some bold, bright stripes into the room.

So here they are after their weekend make-over! They aren't actually finished, I still have to add the trim to the bottoms, but I want a really thick, flat trim, and I have to find what I'm looking for first. I couldn't wait any longer to share them, so here they are, exposed staples and all:)

  1. What a great fabric! I love the bold stripes and I'm interested to see how they look once you find the perfect trim that you're seeking!

  2. I was going to comment on how great a job you did making them match in the white & cream, but then I scrolled down and saw how great a job you did putting them in stripes! LOVE it!

I'd love a close-up pic of the arms - are they covered in the same stripe material? I see a touch of orange up there...

Also, do you have a tutorial coming by any chance? I have chairs I want to do something with, but don't even know where to start! You are so talented with this stuff. :)

  8. Attn: "Anon" in Tallahassee, FL ... I'm so sorry, I accidentally deleted your comment, but in answer to your question, A) No, I do not upholster for a living, but that would be awesome! And B) It actually didn't take that long to do the chairs, I'd say about an hour or so?

  10. Emily Ann - Thank you! I LOVE your tastes in decor, so that means a lot coming from you;)

Amy - Thanks! Hopefully I can find it ASAP, I'm impatient:)

Poly - The arms are covered as well, I'll take a picture of them from above so everyone can see! And I was trying to get this project done quickly so it didn't take too much time out of my Sunday afternoon, so I didn't video the process, but I'll video the next one and finally make that upholstery video!

Pine Tree - It's funny, I used to HATE the color orange, but then I watched It's Complicated, and fell in love with all the orange accents in Meryl Streep's home.

Paper Cup - Oh my gosh, thanks so much!

    Jill - Aww, thanks smoot!!

DoodleBug - I've never upholstered anything that required sewing before, but I'd like to learn. Maybe someday! I plan to start taking classes in the spring. Let me know if you figure it out before I do!

Janet - Thank you! They're sort of like giant orange candy canes, now that I think about it!

Jael - We are procrastinating this year and haven't even gotten our tree yet, but as soon as we do, I'll start blogging my decorating progress! I'm flattered that you want to see them!
